About Us
Heathfield International School, Vientiane is a British independent day school about to enter its sixth year. Our aim is to nurture and inspire the whole child. The school is based on the ethos and academic approach of the new Oxford International Curriculum, which provides expert and research-based guidance on teaching and learning. It places a strong emphasis on the personal growth and wellbeing of our pupils. We use enquiry and project-based learning approaches alongside directed instruction to ensure that children develop into knowledgeable, confident and responsible adults. With the problem-solving skills and resilience to take on life’s challenges, our pupils can become productive members of their communities and the greater global society.
Our Mission
Heathfield International School - Vientiane (HISV) is a co-educational school established for Lao and international families. HISV offers learning opportunities in English for children aged two and over without discrimination on the grounds of gender, religion or cultural identity. HISV delivers the new Oxford International Curriculum. The OIC places well-being and problem-solving skills at its heart. There is a strong emphasis on communication and collaboration as well a critical and creative thinking. It is broad and ambitious: nurturing the skills and attitudes needed to navigate the modern world. The school accepts children whom we feel will benefit from our philosophy, programme, personnel, and physical space.
Tradition | Heritage | Family
Heathfield International School understands that in an increasingly uncertain and fast changing world, the traditions of a school embracing a caring British ethos are important to many parents who find themselves confronted by a wealth of choices in international education.
As parents ourselves, we too were faced by this difficult dilemma, but in contrast to many others we chose to send our children to our own school and make sure that the school met our own expectations—an educational institution tailored to discerning parents seeking a small, community school firmly in the image of a reputable independent school based in the United Kingdom.
Our vision remains firmly in sight and we have strengthened our resolve to realise it. Whilst we continue to grow in numbers we will maintain manageable class sizes, increase our work within the community and seek out caring, committed and innovative teachers who can subscribe to our shared values.
